Martha's Country Bakery is the only bakery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn to have two locations within a 5 block radius (One on N 7th street and one on N 1st street). You the real MVP, MCB.

This isn't my first rodeo with this bakery chain. Before I became a Brooklyn queen , I was an est. Bayside, Queens gal where Martha's Bakery is literally the POPPIN hang out spot. Right off the LIRR, Martha's Bakery is the prime location for Baysid-ers to grab coffee and sweets before heading to their next destination. With that being said, I have a sore spot for the Martha's Country Bakery in Bayside. No matter what time you go in to pick up sweets, there is always a line, all the tables are taken and there is an ABUNDANCE of different items that makes an indecisive person's anxiety go through the roof. It seems as though they are never sold out of any cake, cookie, danish, cupcake or even gelato which made me question the quality of their baked goods.

I do have to say though that my family from the West Coast comes to NYC and falls in love with the Bayside Martha's every time they come. They literally do not stop talking about how much they love Martha's.

Flash forward to when I moved to Brooklyn and become surrounded by not one but two Martha's Country Bakeries. I took this as a sign from G-D...he really wants me to change my sore spot for Martha's. So I window shopped the Williamsburg location multiple and I mean multiple times. Each time the location had seating available, it was not too loud and the quality of the pastries looked so freaking amazing. The best part was that some items WERE sold out. For some strange reason (let me know if you feel this way too) but I feel like selling out of items is way better than having trays on trays of pastries just sitting out, becoming stale and getting older by the second.

But then the greatest thing happened. A lovely green sign was posted on their door and it read "VEGAN FRIENDLY OPTIONS" and I was like G-D, I got you!

They sell three types of VEGAN cake by the slice: Chocolate Fudge cake, Strawberry Cheese cake and Carrot Cake.

What did I order:

I have been in the carrot cake zone and the last few times I walked in to Martha's their vegan carrot was sold out so I thought..If it's popping it must be damn good...So Vegan Carrot it T'was. And my oh my was it ever damn good! The cake was the right amount of dense packed with shreds of fresh carrot, crunchy/soft raisins and nuts! It was iced and thinly layered with this creamy-sugary icing (it reminded me of butter cream) that was really good and added just the right amount of sweatness.

Price: $6.95. As much as I think that the price is a little steep for one slice of cake, I have to remember that I am truly paying for quality ingredients, time and effort! The slice of cake was a really nice sized portion as well. So hell yeah, I will be back and I'll use the excuse that I always use every damn day of my life "I am going to treat myself today".
