Dun-well Doughnuts located in East Williamsburg on Montrose Ave is NYC first ALL-VEGAN doughnut shop. Two men named Christopher and Dan sought out to satisfy their doughnut cravings after watching an episode of The Simpson’s which featured their iconic large strawberry frosted doughnut topped with colored sprinkles. They quickly realized that vegan doughnut shops were sparse and/or plan-old non existent. So as they say on Shark Tank: there has to be a better way. And that’s how Dun-well Doughnuts came to be! Oh and the best part!? They were featured on Food Networks Donut Showdown and they WON! So if they are food network good...then their regular people FREAKING fantastic!

I have been venturing to Dun-well to snag yeast doughnuts since 2015 when I lived in queens! For those that know me, I am a repeat offender of a lot of food places (and songs and movies). But I only go to establishments I REALLY REALLY enjoy, places with awesome staff, places that offer new items daily, weekly or monthly, places that make their foods IN HOUSE and places that use quality and locally sourced ingredients. Dun-well possesses all of these qualities.

Let’s first talk about their coffee: They partner with the Brooklyn Roasting Company (a local business supporting another local business. I love to see that). Their iced coffee is SOLID with a selection of milk alternatives. This place is literally LATTE GOALS! From pumpkin pie lattes (with real pumpkin), horcahatte latte and iced macaron latte just to name a few. I had gotten the iced peanut butter and jelly latte...and let me tell you they put ACTUAL peanut butter in this drink. With every sip I was getting chunks of fresh peanut butter and hints of raspberry syrup. I sat in my car sippin’ and looking at the latte multiple times thinkng why I never thought putting peanut butter in my coffee.

Doughnuts I've had:
Cinnamon sugar: an awesome classic with a nice cinnamon to sugar ratio
Blueberry Peanut Butter: this one is my FAVORITE! The flavor is so potent.
Boston Cream Pie: oozing with cream! This one was top on my list.
Peanut Butter and jelly: AMAZING! I loved the icing on this one. It was thick enough to think you were eating loads of peanut butter but not to thick that it was overpowering. The jelly filing was really good!
Strawberry Frosted With Sprinkles: this classic will always be my favorite OG flavor
Chocolate Frosted With Sprinkles: Awesome chocolate glaze and sprinkles!
Chocolate Peanut Butter pretzel: crunchy salted pretzels, drizzled with chocolate and coated with a peanut butter glaze. What could be bad?!
Chocolate Peanut: simple chocolate glaze with crushed peanuts but still BOMB!
Other flavors they rotate: powdered jelly, glazed, toasted coconut, banana peanut butter, chunky peanut butter, Mac N’ cheese and the list goes on and on and on and on...you get the point.

Can I just talk about the customer service for a hot-second? Each time I go to dun-well, the shop is manned by one person. One person taking orders, making coffee and ringing you up. They don't seem stressed about being by themselves or nervous if a line starts to develop. They greet you with such a warm smile, a huge welcome and just are radiating super positive vibes. To be that vibrant at 8am takes some skill. Kudos to them!
Not only is Dun-well Doughnuts known for their sick doughnuts and coffee but they also sell VEGAN ice cream! They seriously have it all! Venture over to Dun-well and see/smell/eat for yourself. You will not regret it.
Hahaha a repeat offender of songs and movies is accurate
